Simple Burglar Alarm (Switch + Siren)

A hidden switch, wired to a siren-style sound generator, triggers a loud alarm when a circuit is broken or closed — the basic logic behind any simple alarm system.

Circuit Diagram

+9V hidden switch 555 TIMER (siren osc.) pin 8 pin 1 GND pin 3 OUT Speaker/ Buzzer Hidden switch (or reed contact) powers the 555 siren oscillator when triggered

How to Build It

  1. Place the NE555 timer on the breadboard, configured as a siren oscillator (frequency modulated by a second timer or large capacitor).
  2. Connect the output (pin 3) to a speaker or power buzzer.
  3. Add a hidden switch (or a reed contact) in series with the circuit's power supply.
  4. Power the circuit through the switch.
  5. Trigger the switch — the siren should start immediately and sound continuously.
